We are excited to invite you to the 17^th MassTrack/ShipWeight User Group meeting to be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, in conjunction with the 85th SAWE International Conference on Mass Properties Engineering (May 18-21, 2026 in Los Angeles, California). The meeting will be of interest to active users of MassTrack and ShipWeight as well as those who are considering acquiring it.

The meeting is also an opportunity to meet other users in an informal setting for exchanging experiences and discussions on best practices. Last, but not least, it is a great opportunity to provide feedback to the developers and participate in making priorities for future development of the software

ShipWeight Release 14.10 is Now Available!

ShipWeight 14.10 is now available, bringing powerful new features to enhance your weight engineering efficiency—especially for parametric estimation.

Key Updates:

Re-Estimation & Variants Analysis – Create project variants and run re-estimations to track weight changes as input parameters evolve.
Kickstart Your Parametric Estimation – Perform auto-estimation based on initial settings, then seamlessly transfer results to the main window for further refinement.
Enhanced Parametric Method Overview – Gain a clearer view of weight group estimations with a new integrated display in the parametric estimation window.

Re-Estimation & Variants Analysis

The new “Re-Estimate” function in ShipWeight allows you to automatically update all parametric estimates whenever one or more input parameters change. Additionally, a new “Variants” window lets you create estimate variants, each with its own set of input parameters.

You can run estimations for all variants automatically using the original estimation settings and easily compare results at both the weight group and aggregated levels. Updates are clearly highlighted, making it easy to see how input parameter variations impact the results.

Kickstart Your Parametric Estimation

The “Auto Weight and CoG Estimation” window in ShipWeight enables you to define initial conditions—such as detail level, estimation method, and coefficient extraction—before running an automated weight group estimation.

Results from different initial settings can be compared side by side, and a selected result set, along with its corresponding settings, can be transferred to the main window. From there, you can further analyze and refine the estimate using the parametric estimation window.

Enhanced Parametric Method Overview

A newly integrated table in the parametric estimation window now displays the available methods for the current weight group, along with their corresponding results.

This enhancement allows for easy comparison of estimation methods, and you can conveniently select your preferred method using a radio button next to each result.

ShipWeight Patch 14.06 is Now Available

ShipWeight Patch 14.06 primarily focuses on refining and correcting minor issues found in ShipWeight 14. However, it also introduces several new features, including:

A quick and easy way to create subprojects
The ability to filter out inactive projects from the Open window
An option to display negative numbers in red font for better visibility
Two new regression line types: inverse and polynomial
A feature to view all regression lines simultaneously in the estimation graph

Here are some more details on the new features mentioned above:

Quick and easy way to create subprojects

You can now create subprojects directly from the project selection window. A new ‘Add’ button allows you to enter the subproject name. Additionally, you can quickly create multiple subprojects at once using the syntax 1-N (where N is a whole number greater than 1). This automatically generates N subprojects, sequentially numbered from 1 to N.

Ability to filter out inactive projects from the Open window

In the ‘Open Project’ window, you can now hide inactive projects by checking the ‘Hide Inactive Projects’ box. This filters out any project that does not have the ‘Active’ checkbox selected in the ‘Project Info’ window.

Display negative numbers in red font for better visibility

The Options window now includes a setting to display negative weights in red font in both the main and item windows.

Two new regression line types: inverse and polynomial

The parametric estimation window now supports inverse and polynomial regression line types.

View all regression lines simultaneously in the estimation graph

The graph menu now includes an option to display all regression lines simultaneously in the estimation window. Regression lines not selected for the regression coefficient are shown in gray.

The New Crystal Report Viewer

In version 13.5 there are a new Crystal Report Viewer. Below we will explain how to use it for the first time and what to do when using it later on.

First Time You Run A Report

After you have opened the Crystal Report ShipWeight Viewer (menu: Project->Crystal Reports…), click the [+] button (1) to get to the Select Report Window (2), where you can hit the Browse button (3) and select the Crystal Reports Template file (*.rpt).

Next, give the report a name (optional) and click OK.

The name you enter for the report will now be the name shown in the droplist to select this report in future.

Selecting a report for the second time (and onwards…)

After a report have been added by selecting the *.rpt file, you can from now on find it and select it from the report droplist:

Remove a report from the list

If you want to remove the report from the list, select it in the droplist and click the [-] button.

Setting report parameters and run the report

Fill in the report variables (1), which are custom for each report, and click the Run button (2).

After the Run button is clicked, the report will start running and appear in the View area of the window, where you will find the toolbar with functionality to print, export, zoom, page, etc. similar to the previous version of the ShipWeight Report Viewer:

Setting default input variables for a report

To define default variables for the report (which then will be fill in every time you select the report), click the Properties button (1) and in the Properties Window, fill in default values in the area (2) and (3) and click OK (4).

Revision Area (optional)

In the new viewer you may store revision information in a table connected to the report and a project. This information may also be retrieved and used in the report itself (requires this to be set up in the template file).

We are launching a new subscription service: ShipWeight Cloud!

ShipWeight Cloud contains reference vessels for estimation of the lightship weight. There are more than 10 000 reference vessels in ShipWeight cloud, mainly for the following ship types:

Tankers for Oil, Oil Products, Oil and Chemicals, LNG and LPG
Dry Cargo Vessels for General cargo, Containers, Vehicle and Bulk
Offshore Vessels such as Supply vessels, Oil Production and Storage Vessels and Drill Ships
Specialized Vessels such as Tugs and Hopper Dredger

How it works:
ShipWeight Cloud makes it possible to do parametric estimation of the lightship weight based on the formula W=k*LBD (k=scaling coefficient, L= Ship Length, B=Ship beam, D=Ship depth). The vessels are accessible via connection to a ship database in the cloud and can be included in ShipWeight Estimation Window. The vessels can be selected and filtered in the Estimation Window, in similar way as with your company’s historical database, to quickly and easily obtain a set of relevant vessels for your estimation.

ShipWeight v13.5 Released!

We are happy to announce that we are releasing ShipWeight 13.5.
Hopefully you are as excited as we are about the new features. The work with this version has focused on becoming more flexible and user friendly. The logbook has been enhanced and allows you to create a small trend report in the log. There are several new menus that will quickly guide you to the next logical move in the work with estimation, weight follow up, and export to the historical database. The options window makes it possible to customize even more than before. Custom codes can now be assigned to the main window table. There is more flexibility and functionality in the parameter definition window. new export for NAPA Elements in the weight distribution window and extensive upgrades of the calculations possible in ShipWeight.

“Feedback from our users has, as always, been vital in developing this new version”, says Runar Aasen, the manager of B&A Software. “We are very fortunate and pleased to have a strong relationship with many of our customers and this is a driving force for new development of the software”.
